Position Summary
The Professional Engineer works with the Energy Solutions Team to design and bring constructable drawings to completion for field electricians. The person in this position serves as the project technical source, interprets plans and specifications, and resolves engineering and design questions and problems as they arise. The Professional Engineer also does engineering designs, studies, and calculations. The job requires research and innovation to create efficient solutions for new alternative energy environments.
Close interaction with drafters, field supervision, project managers, and other team members is critical to success in this role. The position also coordinates with departments of the parent company, FourGen Holdings. The Professional Engineer reports directly to the President of Continental Energy Solutions.

Essential Responsibilities

The Professional Engineer has responsibility for engineering and design related functions:
· Create solutions for unique situations and leads creation of constructible design
· Create complete project design documentation including specifications, drawings, and calculations
· Re-engineer drawings for practical application
· Implement heat calculation, arc flash, and OCP studies
· Approve and certifies (stamps) documents
· Serve as project technical source - resolves questions and problems as they arise
· Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of projects including status, client requirements, construction documents
· Assist drafters/modelers to produce complete and accurate construction documents for the field labor force
· Work closely with project managers to coordinate deliverables and comply with project timelines
· Oversee a team of drafters/modelers

Overview
The Project Engineer is responsible for the planning, control, and integration of engineering activities and the development of project deliverables to insure the success of their project. The individual designs power, lighting, and fire alarm systems for commercial, institutional and industrial facilities within a consulting engineering firm. The Project Engineer utilizes his or her creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment to anticipate and solve engineering problems, determine program objectives and requirements, and develop standards and guides for diverse engineering activities. The Project Engineer works closely with engineers and/or designers and delegates design responsibility and drawing production to them. The Project Engineer communicates with other disciplines to achieve a coordinated design. We are looking for the right person to mentor our well-qualified staff, interact with clients, and work with the rest of the team at Epstein.

General Responsibilities

  • Gains a full understanding of the project objective, scope, deliverables, budget implications, and other factors that impact design activities.
  • Establishes design criteria for specific projects.
  • Takes responsible lead in the design and detailing of engineering systems.
  • Manages the development of construction/equipment installation documents and project deliverables.
  • Performs analysis and design calculations or designates design and drawing activities to other project members.
  • Reviews and evaluates computer program and manual calculations for technical accuracy and compliance with established design criteria.
  • Coordinates with the project team and all design disciplines during the course of the project.
  • Performs field surveys and prepares associated reports.
  • Assists in preparing estimates of probable costs (i.e., for construction, equipment installation, etc.) at various stages of design.
  • Participates in preparation of project specifications.
  • Performs periodic design reviews; ensures designs follow specifications, codes and regulations, and contract requirements. Ensures technical and quality standards are maintained.
  • Reviews shop drawings for compliance with contract requirements and documents.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with emphasis in Electrical Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer (preferred)
  • 7-10 years of successful project experience within a consulting engineering firm
  • Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Outlook and discipline specific software packages such as SKM Power Analysis and AGI-32 Lighting Analysis
  • Expertise in engineering systems and related design principles
  • Awareness of other disciplines and the interrelationship of the various elements of design
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code and general building codes is a must
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • LEED Accreditation preferred
